Stanley H. PittsStanley H. Pitts, ’81, a partner in the Labor and Employment practice at Detroit-based business law firm Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, has been re-elected to an additional one-year term as a member of the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association Board of Directors for 2008 – 2009. This will be Pitts’ second term as a member of Straker’s board of directors. At Honigman, Pitts’ practice focuses on defending corporations and other employers in family and medical leave disputes, discrimination and other employment matters.

Brian Pappas, ’05, recently completed his master of laws (LL.M.) in dispute resolution at the University of Missouri. He is starting a job as the Associate Director of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program at Michigan State University's College of Law and is getting married in August in Kansas City to Deborah Gutovitz. They will reside in Ann Arbor.

Antoinette PilznerAntoinette Pilzner, ’95, shareholder and attorney with Butzel Long of Ann Arbor, was recently recognized in Crain’s Detroit Business for being an exceptional woman of law by doing such things as running programs for the Society for Human Resources Management, for both the Ann Arbor and Detroit chapters, and being appointed to the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans, the Labor Department's highest level nongovernment advisory panel on employee benefits.

Justin R. PeruskiJustin R. Peruski, ’03, has joined Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP in its Detroit office as an attorney in the Insurance Department. Peruski joins Honigman from Butzel Long, where he began his career in corporate law and represented both national and international clients.

Walter J. Piszczatowski, ’76, of Bloomfield Hills-based Hertz Schram, PC, was among the selections of Michigan Super Lawyers in the 2007 issue of Law & Politics. This is the second consecutive year that he has been received this honor. Piszczatowski is a highly experienced and well-known litigator, specializing in white collar criminal defense and forfeiture law in both state and federal court. He has a particular expertise in representing high profile individuals, including members of the entertainment and sports industries in both criminal and civil matters.

James W. ProsciaJames W. Proscia, ’97, of Brooks Kushman, was recently appointed as a shareholder of the firm. Proscia has an active practice focusing on chemistry, biotechnology and computer science. His extensive technical background enables him to understand and effectively communicate with inventors, enabling him to draw out the kind of information required to successfully prosecute patents. Currently, he is pursuing Master of Science degrees in biotechnology and computer science to expand his knowledge and further his understanding of these two ever-evolving fields.

Pitts’ practice involves employer defense litigation, employer representation before state and federal administrative agencies, and consultation services on general employment law matters for national, regional and local clients. He has substantial litigation experience gained from over 25 years of practice. Pitts’ litigation practice areas include complex individual and class discrimination claims, family and medical leave act claims, premises liability actions, business tort claims, whistleblower, retaliation, privacy and other employment-related actions.  He resides in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
