Rhodes, ’86, announced recently the founding of Fahey Schultz Burzych Rhodes PLC located at 4151 Okemos Road in Okemos, Mich. The law firm was established by William K. Fahey, Schultz, Mark J. Burzych, and Rhodes earlier this year. The firm represents a focus on private and public sector clientele centered on the use of “green technology.”

Schwab concentrates her practice in patent, trademark, and copyright law with an emphasis on obtaining and enforcing patents for clients.  She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Samuel Saks, ’05, has co-authored a book with Michael G. Brook titled “Contemporary Issues in Family Law and Mental Health,” which offers a practical and original discussion of issues in family relations and the law. The forward to the book was written by Wayne State University Law School Professor Ralph Slovenko.

Lawrence Bryant Shulman, a 1991 graduate of the law school, recently founded the firm of Draper, Rubin & Shulman PLC, with offices in Southfield and Grosse Pointe Farms. He is a former Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor, most recently a member of the Major Crimes Section. He specializes in defending white collar and general criminal matters in federal and state courts, nationwide. He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyer, the First Amendment Lawyers Association, and the Litigation and Criminal Law Sections of the State Bar. Kenneth F. SilverKenneth F. Silver, a 1983 Wayne State University Law School alumnus and partner at Bloomfield Hills-based Hertz Schram PC, co-founded a recently launched Web site that was designed to connect business owners and entrepreneurs with potential business partners and investors called The Deal Gateway (www.thedealgateway.com). Silver co-founded the site with the goal of helping diversify Michigan’s economy by enabling people to identify new investment opportunities and business contacts.

Jeremy Stephens, '04, a captain in the Army JAG Corps, recently completed a year-long tour to Iraq in August 2006 and is now assigned as a criminal defense appellate attorney for the U.S. Army in Arlington, Virginia.  During his tour, CPT Stephens was awarded the bronze star medal for exceptionally meritorious service.

Wayne State University Law School alumni Ben Smith, 38, and Anne MacIntyre, 39, were recently selected as two of the area’s top business leaders in Crain’s 2007 40 Under 40 Class. Smith is vice president of development and brokerage for The Farbman Group in Southfield, a real estate services company with annual revenue of roughly $25 million.  MacIntyre is president of Community Central Wealth Management in Mount Clemens.

Steve Sinas was declared the winner of the Michigan State Bar Negligence Section and American Contitutional Society Law School Writing Competition. He graduated from Wayne State University in 2007. As the winner of the award, he attended the Negligence Section banquet in May, received a plaque, and a $1,500 scholarship. The Negligence Section also published his essay in its quarterly newsletter.
