Students and faculty have many opportunities at Wayne State University Law School to pursue their interests in the international and comparative aspects of the law. Those opportunities include the following.
Curriculum. The Law School offers numerous courses in international and comparative law and many other courses that include a component dealing with the international or comparative law aspects of legal issues.
Exchange Programs. The Law School has exchange programs with several foreign universities that provide opportunities for students and faculty to study and work abroad. Other foreign opportunities are provided on an individual basis.
Maastricht, The Netherlands. The Law School has recently established an exchange program with the University of Maastricht that is open to both faculty and students of the respective schools.
Warwick, England. A student exchange program with the University of Warwick has been in operation for over two decades.
The Hague, The Netherlands. One Wayne student a year is given the opportunity to study at The Hague in the summer. This is a highly coveted and competitive selection, and the honored student is awarded the Freeman Fellowship. Hague Academy attendees continue their professional and personal alliances through the Association of the Attenders and Alumni of the Academy (AAA). The U.S. chapter of the AAA is sponsored by Wayne State University Law School.
LL.M. Program for Foreign Students. Numerous foreign graduate students participate in the Law School's Masters of Law program. Many of the Law School's international offerings are eligible for credit towards the LL.M. degree.
International Moot Court. The Law School is an active participate in the Jessup International Moot Court competition and has often had good success in that program.
Research Resources. The law library has an extensive collection of books and journals on international and comparative law.
