PROFILE:
Professor Leibowitz is a visiting professor in labor and employment law for a second year. She was an extension faculty member at Cornell’s School of Industrial & Labor Relations (ILR) for 25 years where she taught labor law, employment law and dispute resolution (collective bargaining, mediation and arbitration). She received teaching awards from ILR and Cornell. Professor Leibowitz is an adjunct professor at New York Law School, Teacher’s College at Columbia University and the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College of the City University of New York.
Since 1981, Professor Leibowitz has served as an arbitrator and mediator of labor-management disputes in private and public employment. She is a panel member of the American Arbitration Association, the New York State Public Employment Relations Board, and the New Jersey State Board of Mediation, and a disciplinary arbitrator under the collective bargaining agreement between the NYC Transit Authority and Transport Workers Union, Local 100. She also served as an Administrative Law Judge and Mediator for the NYS Division of Human Rights.
