PROFILE:
Before coming to Wayne State in 1988, he clerked for then-Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Justice Thurgood Marshall, studied Japanese communications law as a visiting (Fulbright) scholar at the University of Tokyo, and was an associate at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Shea & Gardner. Since coming to Wayne, he has spent a year in residence at the Federal Communications Commission's Office of Plans and Policy, a semester at Cardozo Law School's Howard M. Squadron Program in Law, Media and Society, and a year on the civil appellate staff of the U.S. Justice Department. A few years ago, he chaired a working group created by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers -- the international body seeking to order the domain name system and other aspects of Internet infrastructure) -- to develop recommendations on the creation of new Internet top level domains.
