“Lawsuits in the ER” symposium March 22

The Wayne State University Law School’s Journal of Law in Society is sponsoring a symposium on March 22, 2007 on the topic of “Lawsuits in the ER:  Legislative Changes in Medical Malpractice.”  The symposium will attempt to ascertain the proper standard of care in
medical malpractice lawsuits involving emergency medical care.

The Symposium will take place from 2-4 p.m. in the Law School’s Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium, 471 W. Palmer Street, Detroit.  The event is free and open to the public.  Parking is available for $3.50 in Structure #1, across from the Law School.

Among the presenters will be Julia K. McNelis, an attorney with
Kitch Drutchas Wagner Valitutti & Sherbrook, P.C. and a former registered nurse.  Orlando Blanco, a founding partner with the firm
Blanco Wilczynski, P.C. who has many years experience with insurance law will also present.  Gary Benjamin, a public sector attorney will also speak as will Kenneth T. Watkins, a senior shareholder with Sommers Schwartz.

Albert Dib of Dib and Fagan, and an adjunct faculty member of the WSU Law School, will moderate.

In addition to the prepared presentations, the audience will have the opportunity to pose questions to the panel.
