Law School Commencement Speaker: JUDGE TARNOW

Wayne State University Law School is pleased to announce that the Honorable Arthur J. Tarnow, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, will deliver the address when the School holds its annual Commencement ceremony on May 14, 2007 at the Detroit Opera House.

Judge Tarnow received his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School (with Honors) in 1965.  His undergraduate degree is also from WSU.

Judge Tarnow was nominated to the federal bench by President Clinton and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 1998.

A native of Detroit, Judge Tarnow has taught at law schools in Australia and Papua, New Guinea.  He also clerked for three judges on the Michigan Court of Appeals. He was chief appellate counsel for the Defenders’ office of Detroit and then the Appellate Defender for the State of Michigan.  Subsequently he worked in private practice.
