Professor Awarded Emerita Status

Law School Professor Frederica K. Lombard, who officially retires at the end of this month, will be made Law Professor Emerita, according to Law School Dean Frank H. Wu.

Professor Lombard, who joined the Law School in 1966, was the School’s first female faculty member.  She taught Civil Procedure and Family Law for many years and is the editor of Readings in Family Law.  Lombard also served as the Law School’s associate dean from 1992 to 2005 and she was interim dean in 2003-2004.

A fellows program for students at the Law School was begun in 2005 and it was named the Lombard Fellows Program in Professor Lombard’s honor.

Professor Lombard is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.  She earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and received an LL.M. from Yale University Law School.
