WSU Law Grads Employed at High Rate

The Wayne State University Law School is pleased to report that 96.5% of the class of 2006 had found employment nine months after graduation. This figure represents the students who sought employment and succeeded in finding a job.  The Law School awarded the Juris Doctor degree to 226 students in 2006.

The majority of the 2006 graduates (74.7%) were working in private practice within nine months of receiving their diploma.  Another 16.5% of the graduates were employed in business or non-profit organizations, while 7.2% had jobs as government employees or judicial clerks. An additional 1.5% were working in academia.

The average reported staring salary for the 2006 graduates was $63,955.

In a positive sign for the state economy, 94.2% of the graduates found jobs in Michigan.  Other graduates are working in New York, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, New Mexico, California, and the states surrounding Michigan.

The employment data were formulated by the National Association for Law Placement, a Washington, D.C. non-profit group.
