As one of only two state-supported law schools in Michigan, Wayne State offers resident tuition rates that are the lowest of any law school in the state. The Law School's nonresident tuition rates are extremely competitive with those of private law schools and law schools in other states, and our Good Neighbor Program and variety of scholarship opportunities can make a Wayne Law education even more affordable.

Resident tuition: $658.90 per credit hour
Nonresident tuition: $724.80 per credit hour
Registration fee: $139.30 per semester
Omnibus fee: $26.90 per credit hour
Fitness fee: $25 per semester

Attention Non-Michigan Residents (non-residents):
The WSU Board of Governors established a new policy, effective immediately for the 2007-08 academic year, for setting the Non-Michigan resident tuition rates to attend the Law School. Now law students who are not residents of Michigan may enroll for only 10% above the per-credit-hour tuition rate assessed for Michigan residents.
Annualized Tuition and Fees for Resident Students
The regular course load for a first-year student in the JD program is 30 credit hours for the academic year. Thus the total in-state resident tuition and fees for a first year JD student taking a normal course load is $21,337.60 for academic year 2007-2008.
Annualized Tuition and Fees for Non-resident Students
The non-resident tuition and fees for a full-time first-year (30 credit hours) JD student is $23,314.60 for academic year 2007-2008..
Good Neighbor Program
Resident tuition is available to Michigan residents and those who qualify for the University's Good Neighbor Program, including residents of Ontario or the contiguous counties of Ohio (Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, and Williams Counties). Tuition Increases
Information on tuition increases for the coming academic year usually becomes available in July. Decisions on tuition increases are made by the Board of Governors on the recommendation of the University President. The amount of any increase usually depends in substantial part on the level of support received from the State of Michigan for the upcoming fiscal year.
